EQO: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

EQO is the talent attraction platform of VONQ, a recruitment marketing company, and from July 2026 replaces the VONQ brand for its recruitment portfolio. It covers job content, distribution to job boards, employer branding, screening, interviews and candidate scoring in one workflow, for recruiting teams and staffing agencies. It can run inside an applicant tracking system or be used standalone, and ATS and HCM providers can embed it through a hiring API.

According to the July 2026 announcement, VONQ is headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. A 2019 press report said the European private equity firm capital D had acquired 54 percent of the company; the pages consulted do not confirm current ownership. The homepage displays GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001 badges but does not state where candidate data is hosted. A European organisation should therefore ask for the hosting location, the sub-processor list and the processing agreement before sharing applicant data.

Why digital sovereignty matters with EQO

EQO is headquartered in NL and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so EQO scores best on data residency.

EQO is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs EQO together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
