Maho is a free ecommerce platform for online shops, aimed at merchants and agencies who want to run their store on their own infrastructure. It is a drop-in replacement for Magento 1 projects and modernises that codebase with PHP, Symfony components and Doctrine DBAL, among other things. Maho is installed and operated by you; the team also offers Maho Cloud, a managed hosting service whose data can be placed in Germany or Finland.

According to the project site, Maho is maintained by a small team with a maintainer based in Spain. The site does not name a legal entity. The source code is available under the OSL-3.0 and AFL-3.0 licences, so you can host the software entirely yourself and keep customer and order data under your own control. Development is co-funded through NLnet and the NGI Taler Fund of the EU's Next Generation Internet programme.
