It covers time recording, shift planning, leave planning, workflows with an employee self-service portal, the electronic sick-note service (eAU), qualification management, an attendance board, cost-centre recording, personnel files, applicant management, access control and visitor management. It is delivered in three ways: the web-based planzeit WORKS, the planzeit app and an on-premise installation. For time capture the software connects to terminals from manufacturers such as Kaba. The vendor has developed the software since 1989.

planzeit GmbH is based in Germany, and its website names no parent company. According to the vendor, development and data retention for planzeit WORKS take place exclusively in Germany, and cloud hosting uses servers in Germany only; its privacy policy names Hetzner Online GmbH as the host. With the on-premise edition you manage the data in-house, even without an internet connection.
