Slint is a declarative GUI toolkit for building user interfaces in Rust, C++, JavaScript and Python. Interfaces are described in a markup language similar to HTML and CSS and compiled into the application, and the toolkit targets embedded, desktop, mobile and web devices. It includes a language server, a VS Code extension and a live-preview tool. Slint is a library that developers build into their own software, not a hosted service.
The toolkit is developed by SixtyFPS GmbH, whose imprint gives an address in Hohen Neuendorf near Berlin. Slint is offered under three options: the GPL for open-source applications, a royalty-free permissive licence for other development, and a commercial licence that includes support. The source code is available on GitHub. For a European organisation the licensing terms matter most, since a library that runs inside the organisation's own software involves little data hosting.
