United Manufacturing Hub: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

United Manufacturing Hub (UMH) is an open-source industrial data platform that structures machine and production data and distributes it to ERP, analytics and AI systems. Its core is licensed under Apache 2.0. The platform is deployed with Docker Compose on the customer's own infrastructure, at the edge or in the cloud, and managed through a Management Console. The vendor's website describes integration with the SAP ecosystem, from SAP DM to S/4HANA. Manufacturers and integrators use it to connect shop-floor machines to business systems without proprietary vendor lock-in.

UMH Systems GmbH is based in Cologne. The company states that its software is on-premise by default, so factory data stays on the customer's infrastructure unless the customer chooses otherwise. The website reports GDPR and ISO 27001 certification. For any hosted console the vendor offers, the website does not state a hosting location. For a European organisation, the combination of a German company, an Apache 2.0 core and on-premise deployment offers an industrial data platform that can be run and controlled locally.
