VELOX is a modular, headless ecommerce foundation built on microservices. Each microservice is independent and interchangeable, so you build only what you need. The vendor positions VELOX as an alternative to heavyweight platforms such as SAP Commerce and Magento, aimed at medium and large companies, SMEs and teams that want flexibility. Through VELOX Enterprise Services, Sly provides support, security and maintenance, architecture guidance, migration help for major updates and fully managed cloud hosting.
VELOX is developed by Sly AG in Zurich, Switzerland. Switzerland is not an EU member state, but it is an EFTA country with an adequacy decision from the European Commission. The vendor describes VELOX as free and open source, but the site names no licence, so check it before you build on it. Where the optional managed hosting runs is not stated; ask the vendor. No owner or parent company is named. Because you can run and extend the code yourself, you can in principle keep control over your data and hosting.
