Adyen is a payments company that lets businesses accept online, mobile and in-store payments. Its platform works as both a payment gateway and a payment service provider and includes Unified Payments, risk management, authentication and Issuing. Adyen has also expanded into financial products such as business financing, business accounts and card issuing. The service is delivered as a platform through APIs and integrations to enterprises and platform businesses.
Adyen N.V. is headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Euronext Amsterdam; no foreign parent company is mentioned. It received a European banking licence in 2017. According to Adyen, its core systems run in its own data centres in Europe, the United States, India, Singapore, Japan and Australia. The vendor says it does not use public cloud services for payment processing and that payments are stored in Europe and in an isolated environment in India. The software is not open source. When setting up, a European organisation should check which regions are used for its own transactions.
