Chimithèque: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Chimithèque is an open-source application for managing chemical products, biological reagents and consumables in laboratories. Stock managers and research teams record products with categories and tags, print labels with barcodes or QR codes, and can share product sheets between instances. The application is written in Go and is delivered as a statically compiled binary or as a Docker image, with a local SQLite database; LDAP and SMTP integration are supported.

Chimithèque was started in 2015 by the French higher-education institution ENS de Lyon and co-developed with the Université Clermont Auvergne; the project has been on GitHub since 2017. The project leaders and technical referents come from French research and teaching institutions. The software is released under the GNU GPL version 3, an open-source licence. You install it on your own servers, so the product data stays on your own infrastructure. Support is offered through a mailing list or GitHub issues; the README lists one public instance, run by ENS de Lyon.
