The service started in 2015 under the name Music Mate and was renamed FLO following an announcement in December 2018. According to Korean press coverage, Dreamus intends to develop FLO into a fan platform, and in January 2026 it launched the global fan store FLO Shop. The website is in Korean and the service is delivered online.

Dreamus is headquartered in Seoul and was long part of SK Group. Since 2025, bemyfriends has been its largest shareholder, so FLO is not part of Kakao Entertainment.
