GovWay is an API gateway built for the Italian public sector. It sits between applications and the services they call, handles both SOAP and REST traffic, and implements the interoperability profiles used in Italian and European government: ModI, PDND, SPCoop and eDelivery, plus electronic invoicing. Preconfigured connectors, called govlets, link it to the main Italian public services. It builds on the earlier Italian "Porta di Dominio" model and is installed on the organisation's own servers.
GovWay is developed by Link.it s.r.l., a company whose legal seat is in Pisa, Italy. The company holds the copyright and publishes the code on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 licence. The software appears in the Developers Italia catalogue of public-sector software. Because it is open source and installed by the organisation itself, traffic and configuration stay on infrastructure that organisation controls, and no vendor-operated cloud is involved. The project website describes no hosted service. The company page names no parent group.
