HARICA is the certification authority of the Hellenic Academic and Research Institutions. It issues digital certificates for websites, people and devices, and provides qualified trust services under the eIDAS Regulation, mainly for universities, research bodies and their members in Greece.
HARICA is operated by the Greek Universities Network (GUnet), a non-profit civil-law company whose members are all the universities and technological educational institutions in Greece, with its registered office in Athens. There is no commercial owner or foreign parent. GUnet is the controller for personal data processed through HARICA, and its privacy statement cites the GDPR. For a European organisation, this means a trust service run by a Greek non-profit under EU law, with no non-EU ownership link. Its certification practice statement is published openly, and the service is described in a disclosure statement for relying parties.
