MVB4 is software for Swiss maternal and paternal counselling services (Mütter- und Väterberatung), the advice service for parents of young children, developed by nordend.swiss ag in Uster, Switzerland. It replaces paper index cards with a relational database holding families, children, counselling sessions and an address module for paediatricians, clinics and midwives. The software produces statistics and growth charts at the click of a button. MVB4 is installed on Windows or Mac computers.
nordend.swiss ag is headquartered in Switzerland, and the pages reviewed name no foreign parent company. Data is kept in local files. Teams can optionally synchronise through the organisation's own server or a server run by the vendor, or use a network installation on a Claris FileMaker Server; the product pages do not say where the vendor's server is located, so ask. The product runs on a third-party FileMaker platform. Remote support uses an external tool. Switzerland is not an EU member but an EFTA country whose data protection level the EU recognises through an adequacy decision.
