Nixu is a Finnish cyber security company that provides penetration testing, security consulting and managed security services to organisations in Europe. Its work is delivered mainly as expert services by specialist consultants on projects and ongoing engagements, so the core offer is not a single software product. The company is headquartered in Espoo, Finland, and operates in several countries across Northern and Central Europe.
In 2023 the Norwegian group DNV acquired more than 90 percent of Nixu's shares through a public tender offer, after which the shares were removed from Nasdaq Helsinki. DNV's ownership traces back to the Det Norske Veritas foundation, based in Høvik, Norway. Norway is an EEA member state, so the majority owner sits within the European Economic Area. Nixu's services are not open source, and no self-hosted option applies to them. A European organisation should still confirm where engagement data and findings are stored and which group entities can access them.
