Radio Garden is a web application for listening to live radio stations from around the world. Users turn a rotating globe to choose a location and tune into the stations broadcasting from there. The project was developed in 2016 by the Amsterdam design studios Studio Puckey and Moniker, in co-ordination with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. Since 2019 it has been run as a small independent company.
Radio Garden is based in Amsterdam, so its operator is subject to EU data protection law. The operator's public pages do not state where service data is hosted or which processors are used, so the hosting location is not evident from its own publications. The service links to streams that broadcasters publish and does not produce its own programmes. For a European organisation the main points are the independent ownership and the privacy terms, which should be checked before relying on the service.
