SpectoMED is medical software that converts CT and MRI images in DICOM format into three-dimensional renderings. Clinicians use it for planning before an operation: they choose tissue presets, measure, annotate, place implants and simulate approaches. The renderings can be viewed on a desktop monitor, a 3D monitor or in an extended-reality headset. The companion product SpectoEDU is aimed at patient education and training. According to the vendor, the software is a visualisation tool, not a diagnostic system. It is licensed by subscription or contract.
SpectoMED is made by Specto Medical AG in Basel, Switzerland. Switzerland is not in the EU but is an EFTA country with an EU adequacy decision. The terms state that the customer remains the data controller for patient data entered into the software. The site does not state where or whether data is hosted, so ask the vendor about deployment and storage before using patient data. The privacy policy refers to the Swiss data protection act and the GDPR. No parent company is named.
