TuneIn is an audio streaming platform that brings together live radio, sports, news, music, podcasts and audiobooks. Listeners use it through the website, iOS and Android apps, smart speakers and other devices, including in-car systems. It is delivered as hosted SaaS: there is nothing to install or operate yourself, and it is offered as a free version with advertising alongside a paid subscription.
TuneIn is an American service operated by TuneIn, Inc. According to Wikipedia, the company was acquired in December 2025 by the Canadian media group Stingray Group, which is therefore its ultimate owner. It is a non-European provider with a non-European owner, and the service is not open source and has no self-hosting option. For a European organisation this means that listening activity and account data are processed outside the European legal framework, and that you depend on the provider's terms and privacy policy. For purely private listening to radio and podcasts this is usually of limited consequence; for business use, such as music or news in the workplace, it deserves a conscious assessment.
