Umberto is life cycle assessment (LCA) software aligned with ISO 14040 and 14044. It models material and energy flows, product carbon footprints and whole product life cycles. The product page describes it as desktop software, delivered by e-mail and installed in the customer's own IT environment, where models are stored as files on the user's computer or on company file storage. Umberto is one of the software products of iPoint-systems, which also offers the Product Sustainability platform.
iPoint-systems GmbH is a German company based in Reutlingen. Following an acquisition announced on 10 July 2026, it is part of Assent, a product-compliance company headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. For European buyers, the Canadian parent is the non-EU ownership signal, even though the modelling software runs locally. The vendor states that its backend web services are hosted on its own infrastructure and that no data is uploaded for modelling, but the pages reviewed do not name a hosting location. The product is not open source.
