Wordfence is a security solution for WordPress websites developed by Defiant, Inc. It consists of a plugin that includes a web application firewall, a malware scanner and login protection, complemented by commercial extensions. Wordfence Login Security adds measures such as two-factor authentication and CAPTCHA against bots. The plugin runs on the administrator's own WordPress installation and communicates with Defiant's service.

According to its own statement, Defiant, Inc. is incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Seattle, United States, and is therefore subject to US law, including the CLOUD Act. Defiant offers a pre-signed data processing addendum for customers subject to the GDPR. According to a German site operator's privacy notice, IP addresses are transmitted to Defiant servers in the US; Defiant itself describes no EU hosting option. European administrators need to cover the transfer of visitor data in their own privacy notice.
