Appium is an open-source UI automation framework based on WebDriver. It automates apps on mobile, desktop and IoT platforms, including iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. Appium is modular: the core defines the APIs, drivers connect to a specific platform, client libraries expose the API in languages such as JavaScript, Java and Python, and plugins extend the core. You install Appium, a driver for your target platform and a client. There is no hosted service: you run it yourself, for example on a test server or in your CI environment.
The project is licensed under Apache-2.0 and developed on GitHub; its website carries the copyright of the OpenJS Foundation and Appium contributors. No commercial vendor processes your test data, so you can set up the test environment entirely within the EU. Bear in mind the dependency on GitHub and package registries for distribution and updates.
