Axual is an enterprise data streaming platform built on Apache Kafka. It adds governance, security and self-service: teams create topics, register schemas, manage connectors and grant access within rules set by a central platform team. Axual also offers KSML for building streaming pipelines in YAML and an MCP server for connecting AI workflows to Kafka. It is aimed at platform teams and developers in regulated sectors such as financial services, energy, government and healthcare. The platform runs on-premises, in the customer's own cloud, or as a managed service in an EU sovereign cloud.
Axual was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Utrecht, the Netherlands; the company describes itself as independent and says its headquarters, staff and own systems are in the EU. In the managed option the platform runs in an EU sovereign cloud, and with on-premises or own-cloud installations all data stays under the customer's control. Axual is a commercial product built on open-source Apache Kafka, and the company also mentions support for migrating away from Confluent and Amazon MSK.
