Brave Search is a search engine from Brave Software with its own search index. It offers web results without user profiling, AI-generated answers that cite their sources, Goggles (user-created filters and ranking rules) and a Search API for developers. Brave Search is funded by advertising; a paid Premium subscription removes the ads. The service is available at search.brave.com, is built into the Brave browser and can be set as the default search engine in most major browsers.
Brave Software, Inc. is a US company headquartered in San Francisco and therefore subject to US law, including the CLOUD Act. According to the vendor, Brave Search does not collect personal data or build user profiles; this is the vendor's own claim. Where the servers are located is not publicly documented. Brave Search is offered as a hosted service. For European organisations it is a service from a non-European provider; its own index does mean that results do not come exclusively from other search engines.
