Eclipse Capella is an open-source software tool for model-based systems engineering (MBSE). It applies the Arcadia language and method to design the architecture of complex systems, covering system, software and hardware design. The website describes industrial use in aerospace, energy and transportation. Obeo offers support, training and customisation services for the tool. The source code is published on GitHub.
Capella is published under the Eclipse Public License 2.0 and is developed within the Eclipse Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Brussels, Belgium. Because the software runs on the user's own computers, engineering models can stay within the organisation's own infrastructure. For a European organisation that uses proprietary model-based engineering suites, it is an open-source option with no vendor-hosted component and no non-European parent company.
