Everhour: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Everhour is a time tracking, budgeting and invoicing tool that works alongside project tools, including Asana, ClickUp, GitHub, Jira, Trello, Monday, Notion and Wrike; a standalone mode also exists. Time can be logged through the web, desktop, mobile and a browser extension. The tool offers project budgets with alerts, reports, invoicing from tracked time, resource scheduling, and time-off and expense management. Everhour is delivered as a cloud service and has an API.

According to its terms, the software is developed by Weavora Consulting LLC, whose address is in Minsk, Belarus; Software by Demand, Inc. is the authorised reseller. Everhour describes itself as independent and without venture funding. According to its security page, the service runs on AWS in Oregon (US) and Frankfurt (Germany), replicated between the two. Everhour says it is a processor for customer data and a controller for data about its users, and that it is committed to the GDPR; a data processing agreement is not mentioned. European organisations should account for a vendor outside the EU and AWS as subprocessor.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Everhour

Everhour is headquartered in BY, outside the EU. Contracts and data therefore also fall under non-European law. The GDPR applies through contractual terms, but in a conflict with local legislation you have less certainty than with a European vendor.

Everhour hosts data in US, EU. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

Everhour is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Everhour together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
