giua@school is an electronic school register (registro elettronico) for Italian schools. It covers courses, classes and multiple school sites, accounts for teachers, staff and administrators, pupil absences and justifications, grades and observations, interview booking, notifications, class documents, forms, and data import and export. It was first built for one school and is increasingly configurable so that other institutes can use it. It is a web application based on the Symfony PHP framework, installed from a ZIP archive or with Docker on the school's own server.
The software is developed by the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore "Michele Giua", an Italian secondary school that has used it since the 2017/2018 school year. It is published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0-or-later licence and appears in the Developers Italia catalogue and the European Commission's open-source solutions catalogue. Because the school installs it itself, pupil data stays on infrastructure under its control, and the documentation describes no vendor-hosted service. The documentation contains no privacy statement of its own, so data protection remains with the school that operates it.
