Homebase is an app for small businesses with hourly teams, for example in restaurants, retail, beauty and wellness, and healthcare. It combines shift scheduling, a time clock with clock-in from mobile or tablet (with PIN, photo and GPS checks), timesheets, payroll, hiring, onboarding, HR tools and team messaging. It also offers AI assistants for hiring, scheduling and payroll, and integrations including point-of-sale systems. The service is delivered as a cloud app. Its payroll features are aimed at the United States, with tax filing and W-2 and 1099 forms.
Homebase is a product of Pioneer Works, Inc. and Homebase Services, LLC, based in San Francisco, California. It is therefore subject to US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. The privacy policy lists a category of processors for hosting and storage but names no country or region, and describes transfers to countries outside Canada with unspecified safeguards. The GDPR and a data processing agreement do not appear in that policy. European organisations that want to process employee data should therefore establish the storage location and processing terms with the supplier first.
