i-flow is a platform for an Industrial Unified Namespace (UNS) that links machines, OT systems and IT systems in manufacturing automatically and in a structured way. It consists of three modules: i-flow Hub as the central control plane, i-flow Broker for messaging, and i-flow Edge for connecting systems. According to the vendor, there are more than 200 connectors to common OT and IT systems, plus an SDK for proprietary ones. Systems are discovered automatically and arranged in the namespace. The modules can run on controllers or industrial PCs, on plant servers or virtual machines, and in an edge-to-cloud architecture.
i-flow GmbH is headquartered in Germany, with addresses in Schömberg and Munich, and no foreign parent company is named. Because you install the modules yourself, you decide where production data resides: in the plant, at the edge or in your own cloud. The software itself is not open source. The vendor does not state a hosting location of its own, so if you use a cloud deployment, confirm which environment it runs in.
