LinTO: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

LinTO is an open-source speech AI suite for transcription, live subtitling and meeting summarisation. LinTO Studio handles recordings and meetings, with AI-generated summaries, a collaborative transcript editor and meeting bots for Teams, Jitsi, BigBlueButton and Visio, among others. LinTO Live produces live subtitles and translation for rooms and attendees' phones, and supports the 24 official EU languages. It suits public bodies, associations and companies that want to turn spoken content into text. You can use it as a cloud service or install the platform yourself with Docker or Kubernetes, including on GPU servers.

LinTO is developed by LINAGORA, a French open-source software publisher whose international headquarters team is in Paris. The source code is published under the AGPL-3.0 licence on GitHub, where the repositories were still being updated in October 2026. LINAGORA's cloud service is hosted in France. If you deploy the platform on your own infrastructure, audio and transcripts stay on servers you control. A free plan covers basic use; according to the vendor, bots and live features belong to paid plans.

Why digital sovereignty matters with LinTO

LinTO is headquartered in FR and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so LinTO scores best on data residency.

LinTO is open source. You can audit the source code, self-host the software and keep the encryption keys under your own control. Switching is easier because data and software are not tied to a single party.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs LinTO together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
