Lokalize is a computer-aided translation (CAT) tool. It was built first of all for localising KDE software and other free and open-source software, works message by message for user interfaces and paragraph by paragraph for documentation, and can also translate OpenDocument text files (.odt). It is a desktop application for Linux; builds for Windows and macOS are also available. The current version is 26.08.2 from October 2026.
Lokalize is KDE software and is developed by the KDE community. The association KDE e.V., which represents the community legally, has its registered offices in Berlin and is incorporated under German law, according to its statutes. The licence is GPL-2.0 or later. The program runs entirely on your own computer. According to KDE's privacy policy, KDE software does not transmit information from the user's device except as a result of an explicit user action; any telemetry is opt-in. Your project files therefore stay on your own systems.
