Mastercam is a CAM software package for programming CNC machines, including milling and turning equipment. Users create machining programmes from CAD drawings. The software is developed by CNC Software, LLC, based in Tolland, Connecticut, in the United States. Besides the software, the vendor offers online services such as a customer portal and the Mastercam CONNECT environment. It is used by machining companies, toolmakers and manufacturers that run CNC equipment.
In 2021 the Swedish industrial group Sandvik announced its acquisition of CNC Software; Sandvik's head office is in Stockholm. The parent therefore sits in Sweden, inside the EU, while the developer CNC Software is a US company. Mastercam's privacy statement refers to the GDPR. The sources consulted do not state where customer data is stored, so the vendor should be asked for its data processing agreement and its list of sub-processors.
