Mirro: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Mirro is a people and performance platform for growing companies, offered as software as a service in the browser. It combines performance management with OKRs and KPIs, continuous feedback and recurring reviews, internal communication through a company newsfeed, recognition tools and surveys, and an HRIS with a central employee database, organisation charts and leave management. Further modules cover people analytics, compensation and attendance. The vendor addresses medium-sized and large organisations, from CEOs and HR leaders to managers and team members.

Mirro was developed by Zitec, a Romanian IT company, which launched it in 2019 as its second in-house product, and the site states that it is made in the European Union. According to Mirro's privacy and security page, data is stored in Western Europe on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, which also handles backups. Mirro therefore keeps data in Europe, but on the infrastructure of a US cloud provider. The site shows ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 badges. The software is proprietary and offers no self-hosting option.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Mirro

Mirro is headquartered in RO and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Mirro scores best on data residency.

Mirro is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Mirro together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
