PQC Route: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

PQC Route from the Spanish company Mumken is a Zero Trust remote access solution that lets employees and suppliers reach services on remote networks. It has three components: PQC Core on the user's device, PQC Link as an intermediate node that creates routes and audits connections, and PQC Host in the remote network. Both ends open outbound connections, so no inbound ports need to be opened. The connection combines classical and post-quantum cryptography, with additional point-to-point encryption. Access can be restricted by user, time window and service, and sessions are logged.

Mumken is based in Tres Cantos, Madrid. Its website names no non-European parent company. On the product page the vendor states that version 2.5.5.0 is qualified in the Spanish CCN CPSTIC catalogue, at ENS High level. The pages do not say whether PQC Link is hosted by the vendor or by the customer; ask this before deployment, because it determines which jurisdiction applies to connection metadata and session logs.

Why digital sovereignty matters with PQC Route

PQC Route is headquartered in ES and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

PQC Route runs on infrastructure you choose and control yourself. You decide where the data lives, including fully within the EU if you want — this is not a fixed hosting choice made by the vendor.

PQC Route is closed source, but you run the software yourself on your own infrastructure. The encryption keys and the runtime therefore stay under your own control, though you cannot audit or modify the source code. Ask about export options and open standards to limit software-level lock-in.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs PQC Route together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
