OPENGIS.ch is a Swiss open source geodata company. It builds custom solutions and spatial data infrastructures that combine desktop, web and mobile components. It also provides support and maintenance under service-level agreements, plus consulting and training for open geospatial tools such as QGIS, QField, PostGIS and INTERLIS. The company develops QGIS, including core development and plugins, and created QField, a mobile app for fieldwork and data collection available for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux. QFieldCloud is the service that syncs projects and data between QGIS and the QField app.
OPENGIS.ch is headquartered in Laax, Switzerland, with offices in Bern, Winterthur, Champéry, Lausanne and Basel. Switzerland is not an EU member state but belongs to EFTA. QField is released under the GNU GPL version 2 or later, and the QFieldCloud backend is published as open source under the MIT licence. Its maintainers state that QFieldCloud can be self-hosted. An organisation can therefore run field-data synchronisation on its own infrastructure instead of relying on an externally hosted service.
