PhariaAI is the AI platform from Aleph Alpha in Heidelberg, aimed at companies and public bodies that want to use generative AI, including in heavily regulated sectors. The suite combines open-source and in-house language models with PhariaAssistant, a chat environment for knowledge workers, PhariaStudio for building and evaluating AI applications, PhariaOS for managing workloads and access to models, and PhariaCatch for capturing expert knowledge. PhariaAI has been available since August 2024.
PhariaAI can run in a hybrid setup, partly on-premises and partly in the cloud, so that sensitive data stays local. Together with Schwarz Digits, Aleph Alpha also offers PhariaAI-as-a-Service on European STACKIT infrastructure. The platform is not open source. In September 2026, Aleph Alpha and Canada's Cohere signed a definitive agreement to merge; the combined company will operate as Cohere, headquartered in Toronto and Berlin. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval, so a European customer should follow how it affects ownership.
