Prelude is a French API service for verifying users and preventing fraud at sign-up. Developers send one-time codes by SMS, RCS, WhatsApp or email, use silent network verification and have a risk score calculated from device, network and carrier signals to limit SMS pumping fraud. There are also components for authentication management, number intelligence and transactional messaging. SDKs exist for Node.js, Python, Go, Java and mobile platforms, among others.
The service is operated by a French company based in Paris; no owner outside France is named. Its privacy policy states that personal data is hosted on Amazon Web Services servers in the European Union and that transfers outside the EU take place only with appropriate safeguards. External channel providers are involved in message delivery. Because hosting is with a US cloud provider, it is worth requesting the data processing terms and the list of sub-processors.
