Revit is Building Information Modeling (BIM) software from Autodesk for architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers and contractors. With Revit you build a parametric 3D building model, add 2D drafting annotations and keep building information in the model's database. Reusable 'family' components and multi-user collaboration through a central repository with locking are part of the feature set. Revit is desktop software for 64-bit Windows; cloud collaboration runs through Autodesk services.
Autodesk is a US company headquartered in San Francisco and therefore falls under US jurisdiction. Revit is closed-source software. For Revit Cloud Worksharing, the customer can choose the primary storage region from options that include the United States, the EU, Germany and the United Kingdom; for Autodesk Docs only the US and the EU are available. A European organisation with data-location requirements therefore needs to select a region deliberately. Storing primary data in the EU does not remove the vendor's exposure to US jurisdiction.
