Rize is a desktop application for macOS and Windows that tracks billable time automatically in the background, without timers or manual entry. It is meant for teams and individuals who bill for their time, such as creative agencies, law firms, accountants, consultancies and freelancers. Rize sorts time by client, project and task, shows dashboards for margins and utilisation and produces recurring client reports. It also offers focus detection, an AI productivity coach, integrations with tools such as Linear, ClickUp, Asana and Jira, and an MCP server. By default, Rize reads only window metadata (app name, title, URL), not keystrokes or screenshots.
Rize Inc. is based in San Francisco, California. Its privacy policy names Gemini, Anthropic and OpenAI as external systems that receive activity data to generate descriptions; in cloud mode, images are processed through Google Vertex AI. The policy does not say where customer data is hosted, but it offers enterprise customers a data processing agreement. Rize is not open source.
