SCIA Engineer is a structural analysis and design platform covering several materials: reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel, steel-concrete composites, aluminium and timber. Engineers use it for finite element calculations and for designing to the Eurocodes with national annexes. The software can import geometry from common formats such as IFC and DWG. It is aimed at structural engineers who calculate and design buildings and civil works.
SCIA nv is based in Hasselt, Belgium, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nemetschek Group, whose head office is in Munich. For a European organisation this means a Belgian developer within a German group, with no US parent company. SCIA makes a GDPR data processing agreement available. The sources consulted do not state where customer data is stored, so this should be confirmed with the vendor, together with the list of sub-processors, before a cloud-based or support workflow is set up.
