SendRec is an open-source platform for asynchronous video messaging, positioned as a European alternative to Loom. Users record their screen or camera in the browser, share videos through links with a password or expiry date, and add comments, emoji reactions and analytics. The platform also offers automatic transcription, summaries, an embeddable player, webhooks, custom branding and team workspaces with SSO and SCIM. SendRec can be used as a managed cloud at app.sendrec.eu or self-hosted with Docker Compose or a Helm chart; this requires a Go service, PostgreSQL and S3-compatible storage.
The software is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. The operator is a Romanian sole proprietorship in Bucharest. According to the vendor, the managed service stores data in the EU: Hetzner provides the infrastructure with the production server in Helsinki, email goes through Brevo (France) and AI summaries use the European endpoint of Mistral AI. Cloudflare (US) handles only DNS and inbound mail routing, outside the path of videos and account data. Those who self-host choose the location themselves and can migrate from the managed service to self-hosting.
