Silae is a French provider of cloud software for payroll and HR, aimed mainly at the French market. Its core is payroll processing through to the DSN, the French social declaration. Around it sit modules for HR management, time tracking, expense claims, reporting and digital archiving. The software is distributed through a network of partners, such as accounting firms and integrators, and also targets small and medium-sized businesses.
Silae is headquartered in Aix-en-Provence, France. In 2020 the US investment firm Silver Lake announced it would acquire 100% of Silae from its founders; a US owner is a CLOUD-Act signal. According to Silae, data is hosted in France on Microsoft Azure, a US provider, and its document archiving runs in an Orange Business data centre. The software is not open source. For a European organisation, the hosting location is therefore French, while the ownership and the infrastructure provider are American.
