SketchUp is a 3D modelling and design application from Trimble, used mainly in architecture, interior design, construction, landscape architecture and product design. SketchUp Pro is the desktop modeller for Windows and macOS, with LayOut for 2D documentation and support for extensions. SketchUp Go offers 3D design on iPad and in the browser, and the Studio edition adds visualisation and BIM tools on Windows. Trimble Connect provides cloud sharing and team collaboration. SketchUp is sold by subscription; Trimble ended perpetual licences in 2020.
Trimble is a US company headquartered in Westminster, Colorado, which bought SketchUp from Google in 2012, so US law such as the CLOUD Act can apply. Trimble Connect hosts projects on servers in several regions, including Europe and the United Kingdom; users choose the region. Whether the cloud storage included with SketchUp uses the same regions should be confirmed with Trimble. The software is proprietary.
