Testiny: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Testiny is a test management platform for manual and automated testing. Teams organise test cases in folders, write them as steps, free text or BDD/Gherkin, plan test runs and milestones, and trace requirements. Automated results from tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or JUnit can be combined with manual results. It also offers dashboards, PDF, Excel and CSV reports, role-based permissions, SSO through OIDC, an audit log, a REST API, a CLI and an MCP server for AI assistants, plus integrations with Jira, GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps, among others. Testiny is available as a cloud service or as a self-hosted Testiny Server.

Testiny is developed by Mategra GmbH. According to the vendor, the cloud service runs on infrastructure in Germany and Finland. Testiny Server can be deployed on your own Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift infrastructure, so that test cases, results and history stay inside your own network; the vendor positions this for regulated industries. Testiny is proprietary software. European organisations can therefore choose between EU-hosted cloud and full self-hosting.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Testiny

Testiny is headquartered in AT and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Testiny scores best on data residency.

Testiny is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Testiny together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
