Timing is an automatic time-tracking app for macOS. The native Mac app records which apps, documents and websites are used and detects when the Mac is idle, so time can be assigned to projects afterwards without starting and stopping timers. Timing also offers rules and drag-and-drop assignment, AI summaries, tracking of calls and meetings, Screen Time import, export to PDF, XLSX, CSV or HTML, plus a web API and Zapier. A web app lets users start timers from other devices. Team administrators see only aggregated times.
Timing Software GmbH is based in Neuried, Germany. The vendor states that tracked times stay local on the Mac unless sync is enabled. Timing Sync is hosted in Frankfurt on Google Cloud; the processors named include Google Cloud EMEA Ltd (Ireland) and Google LLC (USA). The software is not open source. European organisations that use sync should review this processor chain.
