Wazo Platform is an open-source, programmable telecommunications platform for businesses. It provides a PBX with VoIP, instant messaging and video conferencing, built on Asterisk and complemented by the project's own components. The architecture is made of microservices with REST APIs for configuration, authentication, calls and directory lookups, among others, and plugins handle phone provisioning. It is used by businesses, service providers, operators and integrators that want to offer unified communications or programmable communications. It is a fork of XiVO; the first release appeared in December 2016.
Most of its distinctive components, and the platform as a whole, are released under the GPLv3. You can therefore host and modify Wazo yourself, including inside the EU, without depending on a single vendor. The company behind Wazo was founded in Quebec and has an office in Paris; commercial hosting and support are offered through wazo.io. For hosted variants, the data location should be fixed contractually.
