W'Sweet: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

W'Sweet is a collaboration suite from Worteks for public bodies and organisations. It bundles email and shared calendars, file sharing, document co-editing, chat and video conferencing behind a single portal with central sign-on through CAS, SAML or OpenID Connect. According to Worteks it is built from open-source components such as LemonLDAP::NG, Nextcloud, BlueMind, Matrix/Element, Jitsi or BigBlueButton, and Collabora Online or OnlyOffice. W'Sweet is modular, runs in containers and is delivered as SaaS or on the customer's own infrastructure.

Worteks is a SAS based in Paris, France. No foreign parent company is named. The SaaS option runs on W'aaS, Worteks' hosting service, which the company says is operated in France, with data centres in three locations in France. If you host it yourself, all data stays under your control. Worteks calls the suite 100 per cent open source but does not list licences per component, so check these beforehand. No GDPR statement is published on the pages reviewed.

Why digital sovereignty matters with W'Sweet

W'Sweet is headquartered in FR and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

W'Sweet runs on infrastructure you choose and control yourself. You decide where the data lives, including fully within the EU if you want — this is not a fixed hosting choice made by the vendor.

W'Sweet is closed source, but you run the software yourself on your own infrastructure. The encryption keys and the runtime therefore stay under your own control, though you cannot audit or modify the source code. Ask about export options and open standards to limit software-level lock-in.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs W'Sweet together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
