AI Horde is a community service for generating images and text with generative AI models. Volunteers share their computing power through so-called workers, and the middleware routes each request to an available machine. People and developers use it through a web interface or a REST API. A points system called kudos sets queue priority; anonymous use is possible, at the lowest priority.
AI Horde is developed by Haidra, a volunteer-run non-profit that states it is registered in Luxembourg. The source code is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. The main offering is the free public service at aihorde.net, where requests are processed by volunteers' computers. No fixed processing location or data processing agreement was found on the pages consulted, so the public service offers no guarantee that prompts stay in the EU. The middleware can also be deployed privately in an organisation's own environment (Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker); a self-run instance keeps prompts within your own environment. Development was co-funded through NLnet and the EU's NGI Zero Core programme.
