AirID is an identity security platform from AirID GmbH that connects existing smartcard and PKI infrastructure to modern devices. It combines smartcard readers (AirID2, AirID2 mini, AirID NFC), middleware, the MagenQ app and the Enterprise Manager. MagenQ makes smartcard certificates available on iPhone and iPad for certificate-based web sign-in, S/MIME and VPN, while the private key stays on the card. The Enterprise Manager covers the device lifecycle, from rollout and assignment to revocation and firmware updates, with an audit trail. It can run as a service operated by AirID or in the customer's own environment.
AirID GmbH is headquartered in Pullach im Isartal, Germany, and says it develops hardware, firmware and software in-house. According to the vendor, identities and access rights remain in the customer's environment. It does not publish where the hosted Enterprise Manager runs; when run on premises, management data stays in the customer's infrastructure. For a European organisation it is a Germany-based option for hardware-bound credentials.
