Akto is a security platform for AI agents, MCP and APIs. It has two parts: Atlas, which provides visibility and guardrails for AI agents, LLMs and MCP tools used on employee devices, and Argus, which secures internally built AI agents and LLM workflows, including against prompt injection. Akto also discovers APIs from live traffic, maintains an API inventory and runs dynamic tests against the OWASP API Top 10. It also offers automated red teaming and runtime protection.
Akto's code is on GitHub under the MIT licence and can be self-hosted with Docker Compose or in your own cloud. The documentation describes four modes: the hosted Akto Cloud, a hybrid setup in which a collector in your environment sends traffic to the SaaS backend, self-hosting in your own VPC or Kubernetes cluster, and running locally. According to Akto, traffic data stays in your VPC when you self-host. The sources reviewed do not state Akto Cloud regions or where the company is based, so a European organisation considering the hosted variant should confirm both.
