Asqatasun: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Asqatasun is an open-source website analyser, mainly used to assess web accessibility. It checks a single page or a whole site with a crawler according to the French RGAA 4 standard, which is based on WCAG, and can also test offline files and user workflows such as a registration form or checkout. Checks include missing alt text, table headers, colour contrast, language declaration and downloadable office files. Asqatasun is server software that you install yourself, for example with Docker.

Asqatasun began as a fork of Tanaguru, a French company that ceased operating in 2014, and has since continued as a community project with no legal entity. Its creator and project manager lists France as the location on their public profile. The source code is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. Because you run the software on your own servers, the pages you analyse and the results stay with you; a demo instance is available, but no paid hosted service.
