Citrus Framework is an open-source test framework for messaging applications and microservices. Test teams use it to automate integration tests in which services exchange messages, so that the interaction between components is checked automatically rather than by hand. The framework is licensed under the Apache License 2.0, which allows organisations to use, inspect and modify it. It is offered as an open-source alternative to commercial API and integration test suites such as SmartBear ReadyAPI.
The framework is maintained by ConSol Software GmbH, a company based in Munich, Germany. The legal notice on the ConSol website names ConSol Consulting & Solutions Software GmbH, with its seat in Munich, and it names no parent company or foreign majority owner. Because the framework is distributed as software rather than offered as a hosted service, a European organisation runs it on its own infrastructure and keeps the test data there. The homepage describes no hosted service of the vendor.
