Capella Space supplies imagery and data from radar satellites (SAR, synthetic aperture radar). According to the company, these sensors can image through clouds, in darkness and through smoke. Besides the imagery itself, Capella offers a cloud platform and API that let customers request and receive collections, as well as satellite mission systems and radio-frequency signal detection. Target users include defence and intelligence, maritime awareness, disaster response and infrastructure monitoring. The service is delivered as data and as a SaaS platform with an API.
Capella Space Corp. is a US company with offices in Colorado, Virginia and California. It was acquired by IonQ, also a US company, in 2025, so the whole group sits under US law, including the CLOUD Act. Its privacy policy says personal data may be stored and processed in the United States and Canada, and cites standard contractual clauses for transfers out of the EEA. For European organisations this means tasking requests and usage data fall under US jurisdiction. No European hosting option is documented.
